ANIMAL SAGA

Animal Saga preview
START GAME

Animal Saga takes the match-and-solve puzzle format and wraps it in a cast of animal characters that actually give the game some personality. Instead of generic gems or shapes, you're working through boards built around lions, pandas, foxes and the rest of the animal cast, each level dressed up with its own little scene and objective.

The early stages are gentle on purpose — a few moves, a clear goal, nothing that will trip you up. That changes quickly. By the time you're a dozen levels in, you're juggling multiple objectives at once, working around blockers that don't move the way you'd expect, and rationing your moves more carefully than you were a few minutes earlier. It's the kind of difficulty curve that sneaks up on you rather than hitting all at once.

What keeps it from feeling like a chore is the presentation. The colors are bright without being overwhelming, the animal characters react in small charming ways when you clear a board, and there isn't a sense that the game is trying to wear you down with timers between attempts.

It's an easy game to pick up in a spare ten minutes and just as easy to keep playing past that if a level is giving you trouble. Anyone who likes casual puzzle games — the kind you play while half-watching something else — will feel at home here fairly quickly, and there are enough levels stacked up that you won't run out of new layouts anytime soon.
